TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I approach literature classes with the understanding that students enjoy developing new ideas and fresh insight into literature, its history, and the cultural conditions that surround it. Students want encouragement as they practice analytical thought about literature and as they strive for excellence in their spoken and written expression. Thus, when choosing texts, creating assignments, and giving feedback, I keep in mind that it is my responsibility to create an atmosphere that invites continual learning.
